The Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company (PPG) was founded in 1883 in Creighton, Pennsylvania, by Captain John Baptiste Ford and John Pitcairn. The plant quickly became known for its glass products using the plate process and developed methods for creating thinner, and more versatile, high quality glass.
